Murefu Barasa

Murefu Barasa | Board Member

Murefu Barasa is the Chairperson of the Kenya Renewable Energy Association (KEREA), an independent non-profit organization founded in 2002, dedicated to promoting the growth and development of the renewable energy sector in Kenya. He is also the founder and managing partner of EED Advisory Limited, a Pan-African consulting firm specializing in energy, water, and climate change.

With over 18 years of experience as a development practitioner, Murefu’s work focuses on energy, climate, and sustainability. He has held various positions in organizations such as Practical Action, Camco Clean Energy, the African Development Bank, and the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Kenyatta University and a Master of Environmental Science degree from Yale University.

In addition, Murefu is a Fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub in Washington DC and serves on the boards of Food for the Hungry (Kenya) and PowWater.
